Interviews & Testimonials

They are like trees planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season. And their leaves do not wither. In all that they do, they prosper. Psalm 1:3

God, we want to grow as we should. We want to give back to life and not just take from it. Help us to experience all this by your grace and to your glory through Christ our Lord. Amen

Some comments from our parents:

“For every service project the students do, my son comes home and tells me why they’re doing it and whom they are helping and in turn he’s inspired our whole family to do more for our community.”

“Our experience at St. Andrew’s Academy has brought our family back to church. When we brought our sons to Preschool, and now the Academy, we had no idea what a life altering journey we were about to take.”

“The teachers are enthusiastic, extremely supportive, and create a learning environment where it’s fun for the kids. My son loves his teacher and he’s excited about school, loves it, loves it, loves it! All the teachers encourage the children to be supportive of each other, which makes learning so much easier. They don’t push or prod these kids into learning, they inspire them to learn. They recognize each individual’s strengths and that God makes no mistakes, each of them is wonderful in their own way.”

“My son is learning Spanish, and he’s far enough where we’ve had to buy a Spanish/English dictionary and I’m inspired to learn the language myself.”

“The biggest surprise has been the genuine kindness and enthusiasm of the teachers and staff. When we first started coming I thought, ‘Yeah, nice teachers.’ But after several months, this kindness and excitement for the students and the school didn’t dissipate, and that’s the biggest shock. I’ve actually thought, ‘Are they for real?’ and yes, they are for real. This school has been a blessing to our family.”

“St. Andrew’s Academy is doing an incredible thing, challenging our typical education system, and saying we’ve got an alternative way of teaching and it’s having incredible results! I’m so excited about this school, and will support it anyway I can, because the results are phenomenal. Simple idea—a Christian structure with a small class size. Look what they can do. I absolutely believe it will be a shining example of what education can be for communities in our own state and throughout the country. No one’s falling through the cracks at this school.”

“My extremely shy child actually volunteered to participate onstage in a play! Wow! The school, the teachers, the students, have all given him so much support and his confidence in himself has grown beyond our best hopes!”

“I love school! I don’t like the weekend; we have to be away from school.”

“I once asked my son, ‘If there were absolutely no rules in the whole world, what would you want to do?’ His response after thinking a moment was, ‘I would go to school every single day instead of just during the week.’”

“The teachers are outstanding. The children get along so well, they are all best friends. I am always amazed at all the things the children get accomplished in a day. The packets of reading and writing material my son brings home is very impressive. From my experience, I find that the teachers do everything possible to make sure each child thrives and succeeds. It is a very positive environment and the children are always happy to get to school. My child likes to be the first there and the last to leave.”

“Our daughter loves school and can’t wait to go every day. She was not a morning person as a toddler and we were initially worried that we wouldn’t be able to wake her up in the morning. But she loves school and is happy when she wakes up. I think that she feels special at her school and that is a wonderful feeling for a child to have.”

A telling quote: (on Friday) “I can’t wait until Monday!”

Events or projects we have participated in: “I started volunteering for Meals on Wheels and I bring my son with me on my day to deliver meals (my daughter also joins me when she has not school.) My husband has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and I plan on signing up to provide food for one of the work days. On President’s Day my husband and the kids had no school and we had a family service day. We all did Meals on Wheels together and then we painted bowls to auction for the Empty Bowls Auction. We attended the Empty Bowls Auction and bid on bowls. All of these things remind us how fortunate we are and we are minded to give thanks! They also provide ‘teachable moments’ with the kids so that they are exposed to the fact that there are many people who lack food, clothing, housing, etc.”

“I like that they have ‘Grand-friends’ at the Village, get to see some of the Pastors for Chapel, and know other people in the building like the custodians. We are so happy with St. Andrew’s Academy!”

“Our son made a bowl for The Empty Bowls event in kindergarten. At the Auction, he was so proud to have a bowl for us to bid on. He took us from table to table showing us all of the bowls involved in the auction. He knew the money raised from the auction would help others buy food for their families.”
